About The Breakdown

Analytics-driven tools for college basketball coaching staffs.
Built by a coach who has done it at every level.

THE FOUNDER

Kent Auslander is the founder of The Breakdown. He is a former D1 basketball player (University of Maryland, Coppin State University), former D1 assistant coach (Coppin State, under Juan Dixon), and the 2024 Winchester Star Coach of the Year at Clarke County High School in Virginia.

As an assistant at Coppin State, Kent’s scouting evaluations led to a 4-1 conference record in 2021-22, including 3 wins over 2nd place Howard University, a conference tournament championship appearance, and tying a program record for non-conference D1 wins in 2022-23. His teams finished #1 in 2020-21 and #2 in 2021-22 in MEAC defensive rating via KenPom. As a head coach at Clarke County, he led the program to 20 wins and a state tournament appearance for the first time since 2008. In Summer 2025, he coached alongside Juan Dixon in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) for Shell Shock, reaching the Elite 8.

THE PRODUCT

The Breakdown builds analytics tools for college basketball coaches and evaluators. Our flagship product, the Transfer Portal Evaluation Engine, uses Barttorvik data, conference translation projections, and a position-weighted evaluation framework to help coaching staffs evaluate portal prospects faster and smarter.

The Engine launches before the transfer portal opens on April 7, 2026. It will launch with every Division 1 basketball player, and will soon after be adding all players from D2, D3, and JUCO.
