About The Breakdown

College basketball transfer portal analytics and scouting tools.
Built by a former D1 player, D1 assistant coach, and Coach of the Year.

THE FOUNDER

Kent Auslander is the founder of The Breakdown. He is a former D1 basketball player, former D1 assistant coach, high school Coach of the Year, TBT Elite 8 coach, and holds a Master’s degree in Adult and Continuing Education from Coppin State University (3.83 GPA).

As a D1 player: Kent walked on at the University of Maryland (Big Ten), then earned a scholarship at Coppin State University (MEAC), where he led the team in conference three-point percentage at 41% during the 2018-19 season (minimum 5 attempts).

As a D1 assistant coach: Kent served as an assistant coach at Coppin State under Head Coach Juan Dixon. The staff led the program to a MEAC Tournament Championship appearance, a division title, and tied a program record for non-conference D1 wins in 2022-23.

As a head coach: Kent became Head Coach at Clarke County High School in Berryville, Virginia, where he led the program to a 20-win season and a state tournament appearance for the first time since 2008. He was named the 2024 Winchester Star Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.

TBT: In Summer 2025, Kent coached alongside Juan Dixon in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) for Shell Shock, reaching the Elite 8.

Before The Breakdown, Kent co-founded Hot Route LLC, an online content and gaming business that generated over $1,000,000 in revenue, built 40,000+ YouTube subscribers, and achieved Twitch Partnership. He brings real experience building digital products and online audiences — not just basketball knowledge.

THE PRODUCT

The Breakdown builds advanced basketball analytics tools for college coaching staffs and player evaluators. Our flagship product is the Transfer Portal Evaluation Engine — the first tool designed specifically to help coaches project how a transfer player’s stats will translate to a new conference.

The Engine uses Barttorvik data, a machine learning model trained on historical transfer outcomes, and conference-level translation projections to generate instant scouting reports. Type in a player’s name and get back auto-populated stats, projected performance at your conference level, comparable historical transfers who made a similar jump, and red flag warnings — all in seconds.

The engine currently covers Division 1 men’s basketball and is looking to add D2, D3, and JUCO coverage soon.
